SEEK.COM.AU - the suckiest job site ever (so far)

Unfortunately they are one of the most used, if not the BIGGEST, sites around but they have a very annoying, morally reprehensible and I dare say even ILLEGAL policy.

Now, I'm used to rejections from employers - I mean, I'm damn good at what I do but there's always possibly someone better qualified than me, and I have no problem with that, although many employers do one of the following;

1. Use an AI system to read the applications, a human never gets eyeballs on them.

2. Change their requirements 1/2 way through the process.

3. Reject you because you don't have expertise in a particular application, when that application will have to be taught to them anyway (ATO is a prime example of this - subject of another post)

4. Complain that "we had a lot of applications" and couldn't read them all - hey, if you can't cope with the volume, DON'T ADVERTISE THE BLOODY JOBS !!

5. And this is the one that really REALLY pisses me off, DISCRIMINATION based on AGE or RACE (and YES, this has happened to me several times)

But what really REALLY pisses me off about this predatory leeches is they way they handle applications.

As I understand it, it works like this;

* Company posts job ad

* Applications are received by seek and forwarded to advertising company

* Advertising company drags applications into a "Do Not Consider" folder and then SEEK generate one of the following emails;

This one isn't too bad, you can at least see that the company *may* have received your application and *may* be considering it, although it does generate unnecessary angst and concern.

But this is the one that really REALLY pisses me off, and it is generated by SEEK, not by the advertising company;

SEEK take it upon themselves to send you a rejection email, absolutely no pertinent feedback from the employer, a vague "it's unlikely you will hear back" message, and absolutely NO WAY to contact the employer - usually from a "noreply@employer.com" email address - which should be ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL

There is a MORAL, if not LEGAL requirement for EVERY EMPLOYER to get back to EVERY APPLICANT and provide them with feedback or an explanation  as to WHY they weren't successful. There is NO EXCUSE for not doing this - not the number of applications, not "we only contact successful applicants", NOTHING.
